Medicare is a federal health insurance program for individuals 65 or older, certain individuals under 65 with disabilities, and individuals with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
Some people receive Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B automatically and others have to sign up. It typically depends on whether you are receiving Social Security benefits at the time you are eligible for Medicare.
